Wow! I had no idea of the racist version of the rhyme but i think its good to let people know the harsh reality that it existed once upon a time.Big up to the people spreading its awareness!!! to be honest, I'm not offended, but as I say I'm white.

Well, I'm white and have known that the rhyme has a racist background, but was changed to catch a tiger by the toe by the time I was little (I was born in 1970). Well done to Masterfoods for withdrawing the rhyme. There is no doubt, that the song was meant to be racist, but things change.let it go.let them put whatever they want on whatever they own.lets just teach our children to know better and do better.peace. It startled me when I heard her sing it, because she didn't learn it from me. Now my daughter sings the song and she says "tiger". Yes, I used to say "catch a N***** by his toe".until I grew to learn better. I am a black female, and during my entire childhood i sang the rhyme. Whether they buy it or not is another matter.Īll this has done is inform a whole new generation of people that there was once a racist version of this nursery rhyme thereby increasing the likelihood of its re-emergence on the school playground. Everyone is now aware of Galaxy ice cream. Galaxy have got what they wanted.huge publicity. If we all just used it in it's inoffensive form, then the racist version will be forgotten. Just because some racists in America long ago corrupted an innocent children's rhyme, doesn't mean we should all avoid it now. I never even heard of the word 'n****r' until many years later, and it was years after that that I learned that some people used this word in this nursery rhyme. I was taught this nursery rhyme at infants school. It doesn't really matter whether people used " tiger" instead of the n-word because the whole concept of the whole rhyme has connotations beyond what most young 'uns think so any excerpt from it is offensive because of its origination. I'm not going to get upset about it!But what will annoy me is some smart dude will write the rest of the poem on the billboard! In a mixed area! Imagine.
